What is pictorial stereotype?

This is another pictorial stereotype picture I found that the African- American is portrayed as a criminal for a documentary book. Moreover, the application of typo on the magazine cover attracts viewers because it is emphasizing the word “BLACK WEST” which will stimulate the man on the cover.

Asian Female Stereotypes

Nowadays, the “GT Car Race” held Asian women or as known as “SUPER GT QUEENS” will be dressed sexily just to promote their car brands and also to attract sponsorship. Since GT Car Race is much of a “Manly” event these ladies are to attract the men. This proves that the women are used as a sexual object to attract the potential customers.

differences between monochromatic, colors after effect and images that uses color to create 3D

(1)    Monochromatic image

Monochromatic occurs when one color is tone using black and white.
As in the picture above, the tiger is painted using blue and differentiate the tones by adding black and white. This creates hue.

(2)    an image that produces color after-effects
The picture above shows an image of after-effects. Pictures look good after-effects. As in the picture above, there’s before and after. The after effect picture looks much more outstanding because the adjustment of colour has become brighter as before was dull.

(3)    an image that uses color to create three-dimensionality

Colours can create a three dimension picture. All we got to do is just play with the colour around the contour and also create shadings on an image or painting. Besides that, we must also use value and tonal method in order to achieve a three dimension picture.

effective and ineffective advertisement

Part 6
Effective image/text integration
This is an effective image used by coca-cola. That bottle has become an icon for coca-cola. The text also stimulates the viewers mind and also stating directly that coca-cola is the number 1 brand for soft drinks.

This is a picture of “OLD SPICE” body bath advertisement. This is also one of the effective advertising pictures. The reason is because in the picture it is stated clearly that by using this body bath buyers will feel the freshness, chillness, cleanliness and also a good fragrance body bath.
This is another example of effective advertising picture. This is because they indicate/show that its pure apple juice with sparkling water. This will attract more customers since the text and the graphic visual is well advertised.

Ineffective image/text integration
This is a bad example of advertising. The reason why it is bad is because there’s no information is disseminated about the product to the consumer but only uses a famous artist to be the product ambassador.

I found this picture on an online selling website. This picture doesn’t have texts promoting neither a good graphic to let the buyers interpret. That is why this is an ineffective advertising image.

what is SYMBOLIC, ICONIC and INDEXICAL

Symbolic

Symbols that have not logically represent connection between them and the things they represent. A symbolic sign would be a red octagon shaped sign. When a person sees this, they would automatically know it means stop. The sign has an arbitrary connection to its meaning.
Iconic
Iconic signs most closely resemble the thing they represent. An example of an iconic sign would be the sign outside of public restrooms that indicates them as male or female restrooms. The sign resembles what it stands for.

Indexical

Have a logical, commonsense connection to the thing or idea they represent rather than a direct resemblance to the object. An example of an indexical sign would be smoke. The smoke would indicate that there was a fire. This means that there is a casual link between the sign and its meaning.

Principles Of Designs

Design principles
Proportion
proportion5
Proportion is a relationship of one part to another or to whole with the size quantity or degree and ratio.
Unity
Picture

Unity is a work of art that interrelates balanced and organized to achieve quality of oneness. In the example above the artist has closely grouped together similar objects (birds) and used proximity to create a sense of unity.  Unity is also achieved through the use of colour, having all the flamingos share a similar colour.

Rhythm
Picture
This design principle is created when the artist uses one or more of the elements of design repeatedly in order to create a sense of organized movement.  Variety is key to keep rhythm in art exciting and active.  Rhythm also benefits the art work by moving the eye of the audience around your artwork. As in the picture it shows the repeated wave line by the shore.

Emphasis

Emphasis is an accent, stress or importance placed on a part of a piece of artwork or photos. As in the picture above i took the picture of a  grass but only emphasis the flower because only the flower stand out and the rest is blur.

Balance
Symmetrical
Symmetrical balance is achieved when both sides of an artwork carry the same visual weight.  Symmetrical balance gives the impression of stability in a visual sense. As in like the picture of Taj Mahal it is built symmetrically.

Asymmetrical
Asymmetrical balance is achieved when the visual weight of the objects in the art work are not the same. As in the picture above the “pawns” on the right is not same with the “King” on the left. But somehow the picture seems balance because the differentiation of the size.

Radial
Radial balance parts radiates from the center in all direction. As in the picture shows radial Balance because the identical units, or the bars, are arranged around a common point.
